Project Officer (Supply Chain)

The Project Officer (Supply Chain) is a junior-level role on our team who will spend 75% of their time ensuring the efficient and equitable delivery of life-saving medical supplies and equipment needed for public health programmes. The holder of this position will spend 25% of their time designing strategic ways to oversee the procurement, distribution, and inventory management of essential medical supplies and equipment to support public health initiatives in Bayelsa State of Nigeria.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Project Officer (Supply Chain) will hold a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field and a relevant master's degree, with at least 3 years of relevant experience in supply chain management, preferably in the public health sector or related field. This position requires a meticulous individual with a keen eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English. A strong understanding of supply chain principles, procurement processes, and inventory management is a plus. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in data analysis and experience with supply chain management software/systems. The candidate will possess good interpersonal skills, strong organisational, time-management, and prioritisation skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, will be comfortable showing flexibility and adaptability to handle diverse tasks and changing priorities, show attention to detail, and have the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Some specific responsibilities will include:
  • Manage the entirety of the supply chain process, including the procurement, distribution, warehousing, and transportation of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to meet budgetary needs and ensure timely delivery of items of excellent quality.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce stockouts and surplus.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders to identify supply chain requirements and create comprehensive project plans.
  • Monitor project timelines and milestones to ensure the timely execution of supply chain activities.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on project progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Carry out any other task that may be assigned within their capacity toward the advancement of the organisation.
