Government Relationship Specialist
The West African Health Organization (WAHO), in collaboration with the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and the Lassa Fever Coalition Secretariat Partner (CSP), is pleased to announce the recruitment of a Government Relations Specialist within the Lassa Fever Vaccine Coalition.
Lassa fever continues to pose a significant public health threat in the region, with an estimated 100,000 to 300,000 infections annually and a high case fatality rate in severe cases. Despite this burden, no licensed vaccine currently exists. In response, WAHO and its partners, supported by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) have launched a multi-stakeholder coalition aimed at advancing vaccine research, streamlining regulatory and policy frameworks, and preparing countries for future vaccine introduction.
This strategic, remote-based consultancy offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact regional health initiative focused on accelerating the development and equitable access to a vaccine against Lassa fever. The Government Relations Specialist will play a key role in leading high-level engagement with ministries of health, regulatory bodies, and national public health institutions. The specialist will advocate for policy alignment, address regulatory challenges, facilitate multi-sectoral dialogue, and help secure political and financial commitment from member states.
