Final report of the 2025 Nigeria Malaria Indicator Survey now available

The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the National Malaria Elimination Programme have released the final report of the 2025 Nigeria Malaria Indicator Survey (NMIS), giving Nigeria updated national evidence to guide malaria elimination over the next five years.

On 22 October 2026, Corona Management Systems (CMS) joined the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) and the National Population Commission (NPC) in Abuja at the launch of the Final Report of the 2025 NMIS and the National Malaria Strategic Plan 2026–2030.

The 2025 NMIS provides national evidence on malaria prevalence, prevention and treatment. It also marks an important achievement in national ownership. Led by Nigerian institutions and driven by local technical expertise, the survey shows what in-country capacity can deliver when it is trusted to generate the evidence behind national health priorities.

CMS provided technical support to this nationally led process, including development of the digital data collection platform, secure data storage, field data quality assurance, sample tracking and management of the survey datasets.

The survey sets the baseline, and the strategic plan sets the direction for the next five years. The real measure of this milestone will be fewer malaria infections, fewer deaths and healthier lives, achieved with communities across Nigeria as active partners in the response.
